I’ve noticed a few things changing in my life as I have more time. They are not things that I would have anticipated.
First of all, as I’ve mentioned, I am SO much less efficient than I used to be. By a mile. It’s not that I couldn’t change that- it is that I don’t care to change that. I’m perfectly fine with doing things a bit at a time.
Having said that, I dig into little things that I would have blown off before. For instance, I have some capri jeans that I really like, with buttons instead of a zipper. One of the buttons fell off, making the capris unwearable. Previously, I would have regretfully put them in the charity box, but instead I now write to the maker inquiring as to how I can get a replacement button. They replied that I can only get the button FRONT from them, but not the back. Again, I would have given up at this point. But no! I soldier on, finding someone that sells the backs. Once I have both in my hot little hands, I discover that they don’t seem to fit together. So I go online, read up, try various tools and VOILA I just today got the new button attached. Capris saved! I NEVER would have done this when I was working.
A silly example, I’m sure, but true. I can pursue things that I normally would not have pursued. Which is exactly why you NEVER want to own any property occupied by a retiree. Too much time on my hands!
